Cerisse Palalagi is an Auckland-based print artist of Niuean and NZ Maori ancestry. She is currently studying to complete her Masters in Visual Arts at Auckland University of Technology and has recently travelled to American Samoa as part of the Aotearoa New Zealand delegation to the 10th Festival of Pacific Arts.
Cerisse’s recent work incorporating portrait prints and text applied directly on to bright red hibiscus print Pacific fabrics create bold statements about the confidence of new Pacific identitied in Auckland.
Cerisse held her first solo exhibition, Ranea at Fresh Gallery Otara in July 2008. O’Kaioceanikart stocks past and current work by the artist including framed drawings, framed and unframed prints on cartridge paper and paintings.
